Okawa Manufacturing Tour

Okawa Crafts Tour Welcome! I'd like to tell you about the handicraft experience I took part in at Okawa on March 12th and 13th 🤩 Day 1 First, I arrived at Okawa on March 12th, and met the local people and introduced myself. After lunch, our guide explained about the famous red bridge at Okawa. We also learned that this bridge was once used as a railway. We were also very surprised to learn that this bridge is about 23 meters high when the water level is high. There are no bridges like this in Myanmar. Local Food
Afterwards, we listened to a local person's explanation and actually made the Okawa craft "Kumiko". It was my first time to see the Kumiko that we made by ourselves and I was very happy. After that, we returned to the hotel and took a short rest.

We arrived in the evening and learned a lot from our guide as we walked around the town. We learned that Okawa is an ancient town, and that the locals still preserve the traditional temples, buildings, and cultural heritage. It's a beautiful and peaceful town.

Strolling around the town
We also visited a vinegar factory, one of the town's specialties, and observed the vinegar-making process.

In the evening, we returned to the hotel and chatted with the program participants over dinner. March 12th was a very happy day.
Day 2 On March 13th (the second day of the trip), we visited a Kumiko factory and observed the process of making Kumiko. Furthermore, the person in charge at the Kumiko factory carefully listened to what we wanted to know and gave us detailed explanations.

Afterwards, we visited the Marusho Furniture Factory and observed the furniture manufacturing process. The person in charge at the Marusho Furniture Factory also carefully explained all the necessary information to us. After that, we had lunch at a restaurant.

After lunch, we talked with locals and other groups about the famous spots of the Okawa River and the foreign tourists who visit the river. We discussed what to do, returned to our respective locations, and ended our fun trip. For me, this trip was very meaningful and enjoyable.
