Visit to Hasami

On August 21, 2023, I visited a place called Hasami in Nagasaki.

There, I had the opportunity to learn many new things.

The main purpose of the event was to introduce Hasami to international students, have them learn various things about the town, and then write about their experiences in their native languages to share and promote them in their respective countries.

About 16% of Japanese households live in rental homes with a population of only around 15,000 in a small town called Hasami. How is such a large production possible in such a small town?We have a history of over 400 years in pottery in Hasami.

In Hasami, many types of pottery are made, including grill pans, Hasami pottery, pasta dishes, tea cups, Japanese tableware, and Yawara pottery.

During this visit, I was able to learn about Hasami pottery and Hasami ware (pottery made from clay).I am very happy to have had the opportunity to interact with the Japanese people.I also gained a lot of information about the Japanese food called soba. And I am glad that I learned a lot about pottery.

After experiencing soba making, I felt that it would be a new experience for those who haven't eaten for 2000 years. People always want to do new things, taste new things, and have new tastes, so I think that many people will gather around this new experience. I think that Japanese people want to be able to make soba, because it is a traditional food of their country, and they want to continue making soba, and I think that foreigners want to be able to eat Japanese food, because it is good for them.

Learn about Sami Town and Sami food (food made from clay) on this tour.

In the past, the only pottery shop in the area was unable to meet the demand of the consumers, so now a large pottery shop has been started. It was a great opportunity for the artisans to experience designing and making their own pottery.
