Craft Kyushu | A report from an international student living in Kyushu about the real experiences and excitement of traditional crafts

NGUYEN THI TUC NINH
Visit to Hasami Town
On August 22, 2023, I had a meaningful summer vacation with my foreign friends, visiting terraced rice fields from the Edo period, climbing a tea hill, and enjoying the taste of matcha and cake on the hill.
The farmers welcomed us and the teacher enthusiastically, I felt simple yet very happy, living in harmony with nature, everything is pure like rice flowers, waiting to be harvested, flower fields waiting to bloom, a source from the high forest "clean natural water springs out, thanks to which the rice fields are green and ripe.
The rice here is famous for its aroma and flavor.
About two hours after sightseeing, the teacher and the group headed to lunch.
Everything was ready, and although the owner and the landlady are a little old, they served us very cheerfully, and the cold udon noodles and rice were very delicious.
After eating, we went to another new place.
Professor Nakano was waiting there, and then we arrived.
This tour was very meaningful for me because we walked along the stream in search of precious tea bowls that were 200 to 300 years old, and after the tour, a specialist teacher checked who could find the oldest tea bowl.
I had a lot of experience making friends abroad and met enthusiastic teachers.
That day was an experience I will never forget.
And through this I want to send a message to all of you.
Please come here once. Hasami (Sasebo) It will be an interesting experience.
